Presented condition

Broken wrist. Wrist out of plaster.

Case history

Female, 53 yrs.
Having worked with the PS705 constantly during the time she was in plaster. Noted that when the plaster was removed the attending staff at the hospital were more than pleased with the progress so far as they had expected not such a good recovery.

Session 1
10th June, 2006

Treatment

Worked for 45 minutes in CS mode, energy 30% mostly, then reduced to 20%.
Took readings over area of hand and wrist.
Worked firstly to reduce swelling to hand and then to wrist, which was not nearly as pronounced.
Made a point of working at the place of the break.

Result

Within 10 mins pain had reduced to minimal and most swelling of the hand had gone. The feeling in the thumb had been also painful and now was improved also.
We tried to make some exercise shapes with the hand before we started and within 10 mins these were easier to do and looked a better shape.
Mobility was increased greatly by the end and she was very pleased with the outcome.

Session 2
11th June, 2006

Presented condition

Some swelling had returned, but she had been working quite heavily with the hand, gardening!!
Some pain too.

Treatment

Session lasted almost 35 mins. Worked in CS mode, energy 30%.
I worked where I saw all swellings and some to wrist at break point. Some from wrist up arm and much to thumb and base of thumb into wrist.

Result

At end the entire shape of this arm had normalized and was similar to the other arm.

Session 3
12th June, 2006

Presented condition

Very slightly swollen on the upper side of hand to the outer side. Slight ache to wrist but thumb area having been very itchy all day now was normal to look at and to feel. In general there seemed to be much improvement.

Treatment

Session lasted 45 mins. I worked on the good arm and started at the area of the break on the other wrist.
Found some slight swelling around the outer wrist and this was making the whole wrist misshapen to look at.

Result

I reduced slightly the size of the overall hand, wrist and lower arm.
By the end of the session the whole area had become pain free and much more mobile.
She was able to position her arm into the shape of the exercise from the physio which she had been unable to do before.

We will rest the wrist today and possibly work again Wednesday evening.
She returns to the physio therapy at the hospital on Friday and we shall work again after that session to bring down any inflammation which may occur.

She is very impressed with the gold and feels the process has been faster and more dramatic.
No bad effects only good and only using gold so far.

Session 4
14th June, 2006

Presented condition

An increased improvement all round, looking better and more mobility, less pain and awkwardness.

Treatment

Session lasted 25 mins. Worked in CS mode, energy 30%, all over and opposite hand took most of the time.

Result

After session mobility had increased again and the entire wrist felt stronger, more flexible but more solid. Fingers were stiff, but a few strokes of the 3 electrodes here and it was gone.

Session 5
16th June, 2006

Treatment

Session lasted 40 mins. Worked in CS mode, energy 30% and for 5 mins at 40%.
Started work from the spine and took shoulders into account on both sides. Worked here for approx 20 mins, then locally to arms, hands, wrists.
Worked only on stickies today. Thumb sticky, outer edge hand too.
Outer edge hand was actually still slightly swollen and once we had finished it was obvious that the whole limb reduced in size this session.
The appearance is now more normal, at the end the thumb, palm side up was still sticky underside, but would not clear.

Session 6
19th June, 2006

Presented condition

Noticed this morning, that the entire arm seemed to appear reduced in size.
It had swollen the day before due to excess work in the garden, but in general this was localized swelling, not the overall effect.
Today she drove a car for 3 hours; this is the first time back into a car since breaking her wrist.
She said she seemed tired but no more than she would expect after the journey.
Symptoms now: a little tired.

Treatment

Session lasted half an hour in total. CS mode, energy 30%.
I worked from the spine and from the collar and neck zone, then locally.

Result

At the end of the session the appearance of the lower arm was almost normal.
The only other change reported is that now when she does her physio exercises for the wrist they only hurt for a moment whereas before they hurt all the way through and ached even more afterwards.

Session 7
22nd June 2006

Presented condition

Saw the physio who has been seeing her regularly each week until now and the news is that she does not want to see her for at least 3 weeks from now.
She has not been doing as much of the exercise as she should but feels that there is still a vast improvement again.
There is still slight swelling and thickening of the wrist.
Mobility is improved outwards and downwards, but not so well to the right.

Treatment

This session was worked in CS mode, energy 40%. Lasted 25 mins

She will be administering 705 for the next week on a daily basis, as time allows and I shall see her again on the 29th June.

Session 8
29th June, 2006

Presented condition

A massive change in appearance today. The entire wrist and forearm looked almost normal now.
She has been working with the PS705 in the mean time every evening since the last session.

Treatment

I worked this session in CS mode, energy 30% for approx. 30 mins.
Worked to spine and to both wrists.

Session 9
7th July, 2006

Presented condition

Have noticed much less swelling in general not just in session. Generally, less painful all over. A mild stiffness after resting over night but not as before.
The exercises are easier to do.

Treatment

Only a couple of areas to work on now to normalize feelings.
Worked for half an hour to spine and general areas of discomfort on arms and wrists.

Session 10
14th July, 2006

Presented condition

Has been using the 705 daily (a few minutes sometimes only).
Had an appointment with the physio today who said there must have been some slippage when she fell, (creating bone fragments to cause a slight swelling at the wrist) although we are not quite understanding of this… however she has confirmed 10% more flexibility since the last visit and is extremely pleased with the recovery.

Symptoms today: some slight pain around wrist area and down side of hand to small finger. Still stiffness to wrist and fingers on rising.

Treatment

Worked 25 mins and after this flexibility was better and no sensations of pain at all.

Treatment finished.
