Perthes disease — epiphyseal aseptic necrosis of upper end of femur
Male patient P. ( 1994)., Sochi. The boy was monitored and treated at rehabilitative centre “SCENAR-PRO” from November 2000 till November 2001.
His medical case history says that this condition was first diagnosed after medical examination and X-ray. From May 22, 2000 till June 01, 2000 he was treated in children’s hospital in Sochi. His diagnose was Perthes disease in 2nd degree, on the left (osteochondropathy of head of left femur).
X-ray of May 06, 2000 showed: reduced epiphysis of the head of left femur, cystic changes in epiphysis. The course of treatment included traction applying gaiter, massage, exercise therapy, swimming, vitamin B-12, aloe, UHF therapy.
On June 15, 2000 the boy was sent to determine disablement degree.
X-ray of August 29, 2000 showed: head of the femur is flattened, heterogeneous structure, signs of starting of fragmentation, neck of femur thickened.
X-ray of December 27, 2000 showed head of the right femur normal, on the left – the head is deformed, lower in height.
The boy had rehabilitation treatment in Rehabilitation Centre “SCENAR-PRO” from November 2000 till December 2001: in total four courses of treatment, each consisted of 15 sessions, break period one month after each course. The treatment included:
— SCENAR-therapy
— specially developed myofascial techniques.
Control X-ray on April 25, 2001 and December 14, 2001 showed stage-by-stage improvement of the form and structure of the head of the left femur, which became close to the norm. Mobility of hip joints increased, muscle tone and trophicity became symmetrical.
Clinical and X-ray monitoring during rehabilitation period showed stable recovery, improvement of walking and elimination of pain syndrome.
Now (as of April 2007) the boy is doing bicycling in a sport school in Sochi.
Male patient K. (1995), Moscow.
The patient had been treated and monitored in Rehabilitation Centre “SCENAR-PRO” from November 2001 till November 2003. The boy had 8 courses of treatment, each consisted of 15 sessions. He was brought to Sochi for treatment every three months after the course of treatment.
He was first diagnosed Perthes disease of the right hip joint in 2000. This diagnosis was confirmed by X-ray and CT in dynamics: flattened head of the femur, heterogeneous structure, softened bone, with elements of fragmentation.
Before treatment in RC “SCENAR-PRO” his condition worsened in spite of conservative treatment which the boy had being monitored by orthopedist: osteoporosis, osteomalacia of the head of the right femur increased.
The treatment in RC “SCENAR-PRO” included:
— SCENAR-therapy
— specially developed massage methods.
The result of treatment was as follows: dramatically improved structure and shape of the head of the femur, no fragmentation, oval shape of the head of the femur becoming normal. Functioning of the right hip joint restored completely, pain syndrome eliminated.
X-ray monitoring of the right hip joint during 2003-2004 showed good anatomical recovery of the head of the femur.
SCENAR-therapy promoted recovery of the patient having Perthes disease of the right hip joint. Results: restoration of anatomical condition and functioning of the joint, improvement of trophicity due to recovery of blood supply to the head of the femur.
Now (as of May 2007) the patient is playing tennis and enjoys skiing.
